Tears of Themis

*ೃ༄ It is said that thousands of years ago, the world we know today was an empty void. Not the tiniest speck of light, nor the smallest crumb of earth, for an eternity. But on the day that time began, Mother took that husk in her hands, and from of herself, she gave it life. On the first day, the goddesses were born. Four daughters beloved by Mother, who she named Taaleah, Kawailani, Koahtli, and Anan. But naturally, they could not exist alone. So for the next four days, Mother gave her daughters four gifts with which to make the world. From her hands, she gave them the elements. Earth, water, fire, and air, with which, they built the skies, the earth, the core and the seas. From her tongue, she gave them her runes; a fragment of her holy power that filled their world, and brought it abuzz with magic. From each of her eyes she gave them Ilios and Io. The first to light the day, and the second, the night. And at last, from her soul, she gave her daughters the greatest gift of all; children of their own. On the fifth day, Mother looked on with joy at her daughter’s creation, and was thankful for it all. Then, she climbed back into the heavens, and laid down above the sky to rest. Mother’s fourth gift, a piece of her soul, was undoubtedly the most important gift of all. For it was from this piece that the goddess Talala created every mortal soul. To live their lives in Mother’s womb, to learn and grow as all mortals do. To die and bask in her embrace, before they are reborn to live again. And one day, in one life, to understand. This was the wish Mother had given to her daughters. Only then would they be able to return fully to her, to split the heavens in their ascension as angels, and be together with their beautiful creator. But what is learning without hardship?
