Snowland is set in the State of Minnesota sometime during the winter of 1979, in the fictional Hope County. It is a relatively unknown area to the rest of the United States and is often thick in snowy woodland most months. The seat of Hope County is the City of Margaux which is close to the neighboring Town of Margaux, both originally French settlements in the 17th and 18th centuries. The city itself, though probably being the largest in the county, is by no means comparable to LA or NYC, by urbanization or crime rate.
