The Shinigami of Soul Society harness reishi to guide souls and combat Hollows, corrupted spirits who prey on the living. Meanwhile, the Jujutsu Sorcerers wield cursed energy, born from humanity’s negative emotions, to exorcise malevolent Cursed Spirits that manifest from fear and despair. Despite their different methods, Shinigami and Sorcerers have coexisted in an unspoken neutrality, recognizing that their enemies—Hollows and Cursed Spirits—share a disturbingly close nature. Both thrive on spiritual energy and emotional negativity, with some Hollows developing cursed energy traits and certain Cursed Spirits exhibiting hollow-like characteristics. These hybrid entities blur the lines between the two worlds, necessitating a tacit understanding between Soul Society and Jujutsu High. While they rarely work together, they respect each other’s purpose and avoid direct conflict. The Quincies, humans capable of manipulating reishi to destroy Hollows, operate with a more aggressive approach. Though they disdain the Shinigami for preserving the balance of souls, they view cursed energy as an abomination and extend their crusade to include Cursed Spirits. Similarly, the Cursed Users, humans who wield cursed energy for personal gain, operate outside Jujutsu High’s authority, often allying with or exploiting Hollows for power. These rogue elements further destabilize the balance, forcing Shinigami and Sorcerers into reluctant cooperation when dealing with them. Amidst this volatile world, alliances are fragile, motives are conflicting, and ancient legends speak of a time when reishi and cursed energy were one. The key to understanding this shared history may lie in the hands of a new generation of Shinigami, Sorcerers, Quincies, and Cursed Users.
