the Glassgate

__**The Mistgaurd and the Moon**__ Deep in the bowels of the humming mistship, an overworked and stiff engineer used her tired body to try and push her trusty spanner against the resistance of a stubborn nut. Rocking back and forth for leverage- her shoulder was the resting place for the sturdy tool. The nut she was failing to turn, was the root of all evil in this moment for the swearing old woman, and the sounds of her leather boots squeek against the grated floors were the demonic choir. Though, the sounds of her struggle were almost entirely drowned out by the machinations of magic and automation, screaming in the belly of the *Mist* Station. **The Mistgaurd** was a marvel. A giant ship that could be seen from the planet **Glassgate** below. A cosmic home to hundreds of thousands, at the very start of a glorious frontier. But with the troubling news of a portal found on the moon, the Mistgaurd was being used as a shuttle for all sorts of powerful court wizards and scholars. Many different soldiers wearing many different sigils, now walked the Mistgaurd halls- their orders unknown. Something political was happening. With a final push, the nagging nut finally turned and the sweaty engineer breathed a long sigh of relieve, wiping the back of her throbbing hand on a greasy forehead. The panel swung open, and to her disappointment- the problem was not machine related, but rather arcane. A machine-mage would need to be called.
